“I fi nd it absolutely crass that the Incidental Expenditure allowance was abolished when other civil servants and MPs can claim for all sorts. It would appear that none of the allowances we receive are anywhere near fair. Disturbance allowance does not cover a move; Motor mileage does not cover the cost of your fuel and therefore does not cover your fair wear and tear on your private car. The list is endless, allowances are woeful and out dated. Fuel prices go through the roof and the allowance rates remain stagnant.”
When asked to what extent the allowances review conti nues to impact on personnel, 22% stated it has had a major impact whilst 46% stated it had had a minor impact on income. 18% believed it had no impact. We then provided nine opti ons to identi fy which aspect of the allowances review aff ected them most. The highest response was changes in enti tlement to Home to Duty 23% (See Figure 8)
