I’m not sure

That’s a questi on too far!

“My debts are my problem; I can handle them and never had any fi nancial worries. However with the cost of living rising, a lot quicker than my pay, they are beginning to become an issue. We are no longer paid as good a wage as we were used to, and as such more and more service people will end up deeper in debt as a result.”

“I have a Mortgage and with a wife and 2 kids cannot aff ord to take on any other debt. Paying my mortgage is a worry given that it leaves me with such a meagre disposal income. We are careful with money and don’t waste it on IPhones/smoking/drinking. A holiday is every 3 years because it has to be saved for and then it is a campsite in France. If I get posted and have to live in single accommodati on and pay food charges et al I don’t know how we will cope fi nancially.”

“If successive Governments applied the basic tenet of ‘only spend what you have and buy what you need’ the nati on would be as debt free as I am!”

“Decrease in take home pay + Increase in the cost of Food, household bills, transport = Growing gap that at the moment we are struggling to cope with, means further widening worries me to how we are going to conti nue managing.”

“Perhaps new families and entrants should be guided more closely and given a long-term framework. I think debt exists as there is a lack of foresight in what we ‘need’ to get by on especially in our early lives. I understand the support networks are there but they are passive and do not take an acti ve role in preventi ng the issue from arising.“
