“Why does a technician, who has completed 18 months to 2 years training, with conti nuing training for each new post, get paid the same as someone who has only completed 12 weeks training? Where in the private sector will you fi nd a company who pays an admin clerk the same as the IT tech?”


“As a TG1 Aircraft Technician, my husband is not only paid less than his civilian counterparts, he is paid the same as an administrator/logisti cian!”


When asked about the allowances available to personnel, only 18% were sati sfi ed with 44% being dissati sfi ed. A comparison with the 2012 results suggests litt le change in opinion. (See Figure 7)

I don’t know enough about the allowances package


“As my pay reduces signifi cantly in real terms (2.2% pay CUT this year!), the conti nuing illogical squeeze on allowances means that I am oft en required to subsidise my work acti viti es; more recently I have started refusing to undertake acti viti es for which I am not properly supported with allowances. I REALLY HATE doing this, but it's the only way I have to make my point.”


“Generally military pay is above the level expected for most salaried positi ons. However, the constant erosion of allowances and pay restraints are reducing the att racti veness of the overall package.”


“Not enough informati on is available on the allowances that our Service Family members are enti tled to. This should be standard informati on that is issued at all units when a family fi rst moves there. Also it is essenti al that families know how they can access these allowance and who they need to contact.”
