clinicians to be determined. Roosevelt Griffin will present a clinic geared towards middle school jazz programs. There will also be a “meet the All-State conductor session” with Terrell Stanford, as well as a jazz reading session.
G. Orchestra- Stephanie Phalp 1. Matt Means from Fort Hayes Kansas will present a clinic on preparing your students for audition, and David McCutchin from Texas will present a clinic; topic TBA. Exploring possibilities for another topic, one will include a reading session with MOASTA.
2. Five groups have been selected for performance, 2 high school string orchestras, 1 middle school, 1 University and 1 youth group.

Affiliate/All-State Reports A. MBA/Band- Linda Huck (Keith Ruether attending in place of Linda Huck) 1. The 44th MBA Summer Convention was held June 24-27, 2012 at the Resort at Port Arrowhead in Osage Beach, MO.
2. The newest member to the MBA Hall of Fame is Herman Rekittke. 3. The conductor for the 2012-2013 Missouri All-State Band is Dr. Gary Green. We are also commissioning a concert opener by composer Julie Giroux.
4. MBA has recently entered into a partnership with MOAJE to combine the online pre- registration for the Missouri All State Band and the Missouri All-State Jazz Band. These auditions will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Hickman High School in Columbia, MO.
5. Denis Swope is the new MBA President-Elect/All-State Band Coordinator. As most of you are aware, Diana Williams has changed jobs and is now teaching in Texas. A new Vice President will be elected in June of 2013.
B. MCDA/Choir- Brian Reeves 1. All State Conductor/Clinician- Joshua Habermann, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Conductor, Dallas Symphony Chorus Premiere of “Sonnet 29” by Missouri native Howard Helvey. 2. The 2013 MCDA summer conference is July 24-27 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, Jefferson City, MO.
C. MAJE/Jazz- Jeff Melsha 1. Auditions for the Missouri All-State Jazz Ensemble will be at Hickman High School on Saturday, December 1, 2012. Chris Miller will coordinate the auditions again this year. MOAJE asks that district jazz VP’s stay in communication with him regarding the registration process for eligible students.
2. Registration for the All-State Jazz Ensemble auditions will be through the same registration site used for All State Band auditions. Directors will access the registration site through the MBA website. One check payable to MBA will be used to pay for all student auditions for All-State Band and All-State Jazz Ensemble.
3. The 2013 Missouri All-State Jazz Ensemble clinician is Terell Stafford. Mr. Stafford is also writing the commission to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the MMEA Conference. Stafford is the Director of Jazz Studies and Chair of Instrumental Studies at Temple University and sits on the board of the Jazz Education Network.
D. MOASTA/Orchestra-Valerie Bell 1. Tony Maiello has contracted to be the All-State conductor. 2. All-State Orchestra will feature a commissioned work by Stephen Melillo. 3. Currently working to put their magazine “The Sound Post” online, improvements to the website. 4. Students now may audition directly to the national office instead of going through state and regional levels.
