iverdale Fitness is a special kind of club. The front desk person greets newcomers with an extra-warm wel- come. In fact, friendly greet-
ings seem to have replaced even the flash of a membership card. There’s a small town, old-fashioned vibe in the air.
Opened in 1949, the Toronto neigh-
bourhood club has been humming along, through the good and bad eco- nomic times, for an astounding 64 years. “We’re definitely one of the oldest clubs in the city,” says Norm Danniels, who took over the 7,000 square foot space as owner in 1991. The club is mostly one large room
