Running on the Power of People

Running On the Power of People Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the

new Canada Games Centre (CGC) is anything but a traditional gym. Serving its members and the com-

munity for less than two years, the 176,000 square foot facility was a much needed addition to the area. Providing three pools, a field house

for basketball, volleyball, and badmin- ton, a six-lane indoor track, dance and yoga/fitness studios, and a bright and fully-equipped fitness centre, the CGC was built to meet the current, future and diverse needs of its members and users – from elite athletes to the every- day wellness warrior.

bership base comprised of seniors, families, young professionals, gym rats, dedicated swimmers, basketball all-stars and track sprinters. Aside from the building’s stun-

ning architecture and obvious offer- ings, visitors quickly notice that there

is a difference in the CGC atmosphere compared to that of a typical gym or recreation centre. There is a wonder- ful sense of community created by our members who offer testimonials of weight loss, goal achievement, social life improvement and family bonding. This is all possible with the support of the safe and accepting environment. Also onsite is the Canadian Sports
