Eclectic

programme for fundraisers

L

ooking for adventure in 2013? Then how do you fancy taking part in an abseil or

zip slide at a Wye Valley quarry. Or perhaps a pleasant walk across the majestic Severn Bridge to England and back is more your style?

And then there’s the muscle-straining,

stamina busting Three Peaks of Wales challenge to consider or the gentler Abergavenny three peaks or perhaps the thrills and spills of the Monmouth raft race on the River Wye is more your style? St David’s Hospice Care has released a

programme of fundraising events for 2013 for individuals, groups and businesses to consider, which is among the most packed and imaginative in its history. The events range from walking to

climbing, riding to playing golf and almost everything in between. Kris Broome, of St David’s Hospice Care,

says there’s sure to be something on the calendar which takes you fancy. He said: “For the fi rst time this year

we are staging the City of Newport half marathon. We’ve been bowled over with the enthusiasm that has been shown for this inaugural event. Places are now fi lled for the run, on Sunday March 3, we have in excess of 1,000 entrants, but we still need loads of volunteers to help out on the day so if you are interested please get in touch. “Our programme is designed to appeal to

as wide a range of supporters as possible so we urge those who want to help support a local charity to have a look at what is in store- there sure to be something which fi ts the bill. “Why not start with a tea party for St

David’s on St David’s Day and then once your appetite is whetted perhaps take on something a little more challenging by selecting something that takes your fancy from our programme of events?” Funds raised through these events help

fund St David’s Hospice Care provide free community-based hospice care to people with cancer or any other life threatening illness living within Monmouthshire, Caerphilly, Newport, Torfaen and in South and Mid Powys. For more information on all the events

visit the website www.stdavidshospicecare. org.
