You’re taking someone out for a special meal in Monmouthshire, where would you go and why? Blue Cumin Indian restaurant in Magor. Lovely lighting and cracking naan bread.
What’s your favourite food/meal? I am a big fan of seafood and my favourite meal would be tapas, which would have to include some king prawns and mussels.
What ingredient is your favourite to use, and why? I like to use garlic, onions and chilli with almost everything I cook. However, I have found they don’t compliment a Spotted Dick very well!
Top smell to get your taste buds going? Garlic prawns, ooof!
Tea or coffee? Pre-12pm it would be a coffee but post- 12pm tea all the way.
Red wine or white? Can I say rose?
Beer/lager or spirits: Guinness please
What’s your guilty foodie pleasure? Should I admit that I often have Super Noodles on toast?
Where did you have the best meal of your life? A seafood platter I had in a very posh restaurant on Sydney Harbour. I was very much out of place.
What would you choose to eat at your own last supper? I’d have a Chinese takeaway garnished with immortality herbs...
What’s the best music to listen to when eating/preparing food? The last time I chopped an onion I was moving to The Lumineers.
What one song would you have to have on your iPod? One Day Like This by Elbow

You’re taking someone out for a special meal in Monmouthshire, where would you go and why? I’d head straight to Mamma Mia Italian restaurant in Chepstow. The place never fails to impress and being a cheap skate, it’s also affordable.
What’s your favourite food/meal? I am a big fan of king prawns whether it be in an Italian dish, an Indian curry or within a Chinese meal.
What ingredient is your favourite to use, and why? It would have to be garlic by a country mile. I have been dabbling in rosemary recently but garlic wins every time.
Top smell to get your taste buds going? Bacon, garlic and onion.
Tea or coffee? Tea (with two)
Red wine or white? White wine, sweet.
Beer/lager or spirits: Depending on the time but I would usually pick a nice chilled crisp lager over spirits.
What’s your guilty foodie pleasure? A cheese and onion (has to be Walkers) crisp sandwich in tiger bread coated in butter.
Where did you have the best meal of your life? Hard to say really but I’d class the Fusilli Gamboretti in a creamy white wine and chives sauce with asparagus from Casa Bianca Cardiff was a stand out meal in my life.
What would you choose to eat at your own last supper? I would have to get a huge curry selection in. It’s a great social food and is always a good fi ll.
What’s the best music to listen to, when eating/preparing food? Music to listen to while cooking I would opt for some Afro Celt Sound System, great rhythms to keep your energy up. For eating I’d tend to go for some quieter tunes, maybe some Sion Russell Jones.
What one song would you have to have on your iPod? One tune I’d always have on my iPod would be One Way by The Levellers
First record you ever bought? First single I bought was Artful Dodger featuring Craig David – Rewind... cracking tune. First album was Smurfs Go Pop.
Infl uences... My infl uences stem from twraditional Irish/Scottish Celtic music. The likes of Seth Lakeman, The Levellers, Shooglenifty, Martyn Bennett, John Butler Trio play their part too.
