• Did you always know what kind of wedding you wanted?
Danielle: I wouldn’t say I was the typical girl dreaming of her wedding growing up. We both liked the idea of having the ceremony and reception at the same venue and knew we wanted a location with character and charm, and able to accomodate us having all our family and friends around us.
• Where did you have the ceremony and why did you choose that location?
D: We had the ceremony and reception at the Glen-Yr- Afon in Usk . We looked at a number of venues but once we’d seen the Glen-Yr-Afon and met the staff we knew it was right for us. Its traditional features and decor were exactly what we were looking for with lovely gardens to go with it. Its reputation is excellent and combined with the food they offer from the restaurant it was the perfect match.
• How did it go?
D: Our wedding day was amazing. The staff at the Glen- Yr-Afon were wonderful, from the wedding planner Carol Knight to the guys running the day, they made us feel very special and couldn’t do enough for us and our guests. Everything ran smoothly and even the sun was shining! The food and drink at the reception was excellent. The day was everything we wanted.
• Did you have a theme for the wedding, if so what?
D: We didn’t have a theme apart from the colour scheme which was turquoise. We wanted it to be quite traditional and elegant.
• How long did it take you to organise the day?
D: From the time we booked the venue to the day itself was 14 months. Trying to organise things was quite difficult as we were living 200 miles away in Halifax. That said, the service offered by the Glen-Yr-Afon in planning the day was great and took alot of the stress out of it.
