THE Twitter-sphere has been buzzing with excitement about the new leisure quarter at Llanelli’s East Gate ever since the opening of ODEON. Tweeters have been busy uploading pics and comments about their


experiences of the new look Llanelli – including local celebrities who’ve been getting excited about what the town has to offer. Olympic hurdler Dai Greene was among then, tweeting about the new


Nandos restaurant: “Heard today that Llanelli is getting a Nandos. This is the BIG”, as was opera and TV star Wynne Evans – also known as Gio Compario – who tweeted “looks fab” about Y Ffwrnes. Cllr Meryl Gravell, Executive Board Member for Regeneration, said:


“Thousands of people have been enjoying the new cultural experience at East Gate. We are thrilled that people are sharing their excitement through social media and helping to create the buzz that we always knew would happen.” Have you been to East Gate? Get more active, more often CARMARTHENSHIRE’S area


sports and leisure teams are continuing to get more people more active, more often. A number of exciting events are


being organised over the coming months following on from the successes of 2012’s summer of sport. Events including triathlons, leisure centre open days, family fun days, Olympic torch events, and golf open days were all organised and hosted by the area teams and were attended by hundreds of people all eager to get more active. More than 100 leisure staff at seven


locations across Carmarthenshire are now developing innovative events that will become a legacy in their communities. The area teams have been created to get people active more often in Whitland and west, Newcastle Emlyn and north, Carmarthen and lower Tywi Valley, Gwendraeth Valley, Llanelli, Amman


Walkers scheme


TOWNS in Carmarthenshire are invited to join Walkers are Welcome, a national scheme aimed at encouraging tourism. Llandeilo Town Council and the


Dinefwr Group of Ramblers are supporters of the scheme. There are six conditions to be met

VALENTINE’S Day is the start of National Nest Box Week with activities planned at the WWT National Wetland Centre Wales in Llanelli. On Friday, February, 15 and Sunday


17, young visitors can build their very own blue tit or robin nest box to take home. One-to-one expert tuition is given to make a professional quality box costing £5, and then to make a nesting stocking for free. At craft workshops, make and take


home creations to help garden birds during the breeding season include a bird shower, nesting stocking, and bird feeder. Families can also enjoy a bird
