BUSINESS
Describe your role/job? As Finance Manager it is my mission to keep a firm grip on the Chamber cookie jar at all times, eyeing incoming invoices and expenses with suspicion, while maintaining effective credit control and accurate financial reporting.
What skills do you bring to the table/are required in your role?
A penchant for organisation and atention to detail that auditors love and my colleagues ... well, they are not quite so keen.
What has been your career highpoint?
My appointment as Finance Manager at the Chamber obviously!
What’s the best thing about Glasgow Chamber of Commerce?
Te complete commitment of our team to engaging with the business community of Glasgow and local and national government, to make Glasgow an even beter city, in which to trade, work and live.
What one thing would you wish for Glasgow between now and 2014?
For the people of Glasgow to come together for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and recreate the amazing buzz of the London Olympics in our great city.
PERSONAL
What do you do to relax at the weekend?
I am addicted to American Patchwork Quilting and will happily travel abroad to a class or fabulous fabric store, even as far as New England.
What is your favourite city outside the UK and why?
Boston is an enjoyable city in any season with walking tours taking in all the sights, friendly natives, and great food stalls at Faneuil Halls.
Name your favourite book/ film/album?
Any book by Michael Connelly or Dick Francis. My favourite film is Where Eagles Dare. Also, is it wrong to love Status Quo?
What would be your worst possible nightmare?
Being caught napping by the Chief Executive at the weekly achievement meeting.
