Articulate (Scotland) Limited named winner of the 2012 Smarta 100
Awards The Articulate Gallery is delighted to have received a Smarta 100 Award 2012. This tiny Scottish company, with just two employees, has grown from a kitchen table project into a UK retailing and export success story. In total, 2012’s Smarta 100
are generating revenues of more than £200 million a year and employing 1,104 people. More than a quarter are female-run businesses and two thirds are self-funded, with just 9 per cent borrowing from a bank. Over a quarter had taken angel, private equity or VC funding. Commenting on their inclusion in the Smarta 100, Articulate (Scotland) Limited’s Director, Colin Gilchrist, said: “We are chuffed to bits to receive another award this year. Our picture frames are a celebration of children’s creativity, so it is always brilliant to have our own creativity as an SME (and as adults) recognised. “The Smarta awards have
‘art’ at their core, just like Articulate, so it is a match made in creative heaven.”
