Tere has been a celebratory feel to the last few months of 2012 for the Glasgow Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCI Glasgow). With its 75th Anniversary


Dinner on 16 November, and as the organisation continues to grow and provides an array of social, business and networking events, it looks forward to the next 75 years. As part of Glasgow For


Business Week, October saw JCI Glasgow organise a panel discussion on the UK’s economic outlook and the challenges currently facing businesses. More than 40 guests atended to put questions to a panel consisting of Jack Perry, former Chief Executive

Dust off your DSLR and join Reid Kerr College’s part-time Digital Photography for Business course. We will show you how to get


the most out of your digital camera to promote your business. Te course covers picture taking and camera operation,


giving you the skills to take great pictures of your staff, products or events. Tuition will be given to allow you to edit your pictures to add to websites, use with social media and for print. Te course is practical and


very hands on – you can bring along your own equipment, or a


camera can be provided. Guidance will also be given about the right camera to buy. Digital editing will be


demonstrated using a soſtware package that is freely available. Te course will run over four two-hour twilight sessions and costs just £75 for Glasgow Chamber members (normally £85). If you are from a small


business you may be able to access up to 50 per cent funding via the Flexible Training

Glasgow’s Oktoberfest brewery tour last year, it returned to West Brewery at Glasgow Green for its October Monthly Drinks with traditional Oktoberfest music by Bayrische Buam and a variety of WEST beers and German dishes on offer. As well as local activities, several


members took the opportunity to visit Belfast for the JCI UK National Conference at Titanic Belfast from 30 November to 2 December. Te weekend included an Irish-themed social in the Ulster Reform Club on

Friday evening (one of Belfast’s oldest private members’ clubs), the national debating competition, Gala dinner and talks on emotional intelligence and networking for leaders on the Saturday. Next year promises to be


action packed with more local and national events plus the opportunity for members to visit Monte Carlo for the JCI European


Conference in May and Rio de Janeiro for the World Conference in November.
