I n 2011, Glasgow Airport carried approximately seven million passengers, a 5.1 per cent increase from 2010. Over the past 12 months, there has been a real step change to
their customer service approach. By introducing a customer charter which includes buy in from all the airport business partners (about 4,500 staff), Glasgow Airport has established a dedicated team who are charged with overseeing the roll out of the training programme from staff engagement to ongoing customer feedback and monthly reporting systems, which has ultimately led to improvement in key performance metrics from arrivals, security and check in services. Selling funeral plans is the core business of Golden Charter. It has designed and built four separate e-commerce sites, managing to take a
non-sexy product and sell to a non-computer savvy generation with huge success. Each site is designed to address the needs of the different markets and sales channels. Its e-commerce strategy focuses on three elements: ongoing solutions for their resellers, streamlining internal processes, and continued reviews testing and refining of their systems. The Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) established the annual Glasgow Film Festival in 2005, which has rapidly become one of the UK’s top three film festivals, reaching more than 35,000
attendees in February. It achieved this by partnering with a number of organisations, from media companies (STV, Guardian) to hotels and venues as well as using online initiatives and the GFT website. The final report from 2012 events shows that not only did the festival increase its numbers, but it also boosted hotel and restaurants during a normally quiet month.
