FEDERATION SUMMER WORKSHOP NEWS continued………… This year’s Summer Workshop featured a new format by


starting on Friday afternoon and finishing at noon on Satur- day. Friday’s sessions centered around a variety of Round Table Discussions that created a lot of conversations and new ideas.

Kelly White, Administrative Assistant to Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam on the upcoming Viva 500 Pro- gram and how Fairs can get involved. In 2013 Florida will celebrate the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de Leon's arrival on Florida's east coast. Kelly was followed by an informative session by Danny Raulerson, also with the FDACS on Chapter 616 and how to make sure Fairs com- ply. The rest of the morning was devoted to another lively


round of table topics. The amount of information shared and learned through these discussions is invaluable to Fairs!

Saturday morning’s program started with the presentation


of a special Legislative Appreciation Award to Florida State Representative Greg Steube, for his commitment and sup- port of the Fair industry. The group was also delighted to be welcomed and hear remarks from Larry Bustle, Manatee County Commissioner; Shirley Groover Bryant, the Mayor of Palmetto, and Dan Molter, President of the Manatee County Fair Association.
