FLORIDA FAIR NEWS ………..………..…………………………………… “Country Pride…County Wide”
will be prominent at the 27th An- nual Clay County Agricultural Fair. The fair is scheduled for April 4- 13, 2013. The Board selected the theme to promote our agriculture roots and county pride. This is always an exciting time for us …a new Board was set at

the end of June. They elected the officers as follows: Chairman - Johnny Mack Smith; Vice Chairman - Wayne Heath; Secretary - Virginia Hall; Treasurer - Tony Tharp. We welcomed Tommy Gann, Derrell Kelly, Jim Johnson and Tony Tharp as new Board members this year. Job one after electing officers was committee assignments. Next
was a fresh start to planning hours of operation, daily themes and promotions for our 27th Annual Fair. We just completed our budgeting process and will begin updat-
ing the rules for competitive exhibits, contacting sponsors, vendor partners, and updating our website, not to mention trying to stay active on Facebook and Twitter. Yes, there’s a lot to do in the ―off season.‖ Last year was a special growth year for us. We opened our new
expanded parking lot. For the first time we didn’t have traffic prob- lems on State Road 16. We used the new lot five out of the10 days. It worked really well. We have added a new bus to our tram fleet that we will operate
at our 2013 Fair. Now our fleet includes 3 mini-trams, 3 tractor trams and one 14 passenger bus. These are vital to our operation with the new parking lot. They are used to transport guests from the parking lots to our main ticket gate. This year the board has approved another major project to im-
prove our operation. We plan to relocate and expand our main ticket gate entrance. This was planned in 2010 but was tabled due to the new parking lot. In addition we will expand our walkways in several areas to reduce congestion. We are excited about the approved projects to help us serve our guests better. We will be meeting with our Midway pro-
vider, Deggeller Attractions, in November at the Volusia County Fair to plan our arm- band promotions for 2013. We are optimistic about our 2013 Fair,
even though the economy is still sluggish. If we are blessed with good weather, we think we’ll set a new record. We hope your schedule will allow you to
