Getting to know our new Board Members Albert Montes
Albert Montes joined the Florida Federation of Fair’s Board of Directors this past May at the State
Convention. Albert is the Vice President of Finance and Accounting for the Miami-Dade County Fair and Expo.
He oversees all of the Accounting and Finance functions and also manages the Concession’s Depart- ment as well as the IT department. Albert’s responsibilities also include preparing the yearly budget as well as the monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors. In addition he also works with the auditors to assist them during the yearly audit. During The Fair, Albert manages the Front Gate Depart- ment, Midway Department and Concession’s Cashier’s Department. In addition to serving the Federation on the Sponsorship Committee and Welcoming Committee, Al-
bert has been active in the Florida Federation of Fair’s Convention and the IAFE Annual Convention for the past six years. Albert graduated form the IAFE Institute of Fair Management last November. Prior to working at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Expo, Albert worked as a CPA with Deloitte &
Touche as an auditor and The Fair was one of his clients. During that time he was the senior auditor working on The Fair’s audit from 1998-2001. He was immediately drawn to the industry and in 2003 when the opportunity became available he joined The Fair as the comptroller. He has been with The Fair now for nine years in the capacity of Vice President of Fi- nance & Accounting. Being a native of Miami, Albert remembers going to The Fair as a child on a yearly basis with his family. He says, ―I would never
have thought, in a million years, that I would be working for The Fair. It is a wonderful industry which I am proud to be a part of.‖ Albert has a beautiful wife whose name is Elba and two wonderful children, Nicholas who is 7 and Natalia who is 3. His small chil-
dren take up a lot of his time and he enjoys playing and watching basketball and baseball with his son as well as spending time with his daughter. They like to ride their bicycles as well as go to the beach when they have an opportunity. They really enjoy outdoor activities. We welcome Albert to the Federation Board!
