The Dalziel Park Hotel and Country Club Motherwell
Dalziel Park was badly in need of some TLC when Lisini Pub Co bought it over in June 2011. Despite many hidden structural issues and a complete kitchen refi t, the hotel remained open for business and honoured existing bookings during a
fi ve-month refurbishment programme costing £750,000. With goodwill and turnover rock bottom at the time of the acquisition, Dalziel Park is on course to turn over £1.3 million for its fi rst full year of trading.

Vespbar Glasgow
This bijou bar on Drury Street launched in mid-October 2011 after a two-week transformation at the hands of owners James McLaughlin and Suzanne McGuire. With a budget of just £15,000 and a mantra of ‘reuse, recycle, re-love’, they undertook most of the refurbishment work themselves and sourced all the retro furniture and fi ttings from charity shops, salvage yards and friends’ homes. The result is a profi table, cool Italian-inspired establishment that draws a music and sports-loving crowd.
The Waterside Inn Seamill, Ayrshire
Opened in October 2011 after a £1.5 million, six-month redevelopment self-funded by owners Malcolm and Karen Simpson of SimpsInns, this
Ayrshire venue has been transformed into a successful destination
restaurant, bar and function space. Its tasteful, contemporary New England/ Cape Cod-inspired interior is perfectly in keeping with its Clyde coast location and has been meticulously designed to ensure that future plans for expansion don’t affect the current operation.
