Royal Mackintosh Hotel Dunbar
The Royal Mackintosh in Dunbar was closed when the new and current owner took charge last year – at the age of 26. It is now a thriving hotel providing 16 bedrooms, a restaurant and two bars for both locals and visitors. In today’s tough licensed trade environment this is no mean feat and the judges were particularly impressed with the determination shown by a very young licensee to get this ailing hotel back on its feet.

The judges were on a mission to fi nd inspirational outlets using forward thinking practices – and Stravaigin didn’t disappoint. The front-of-house staff and kitchen team import groundbreaking ideas and cooking practices from around the world to keep this outlet unique and successful.
