independent multiple operator of the year

Lynnet Leisure Glasgow
It might have chalked up some 40 years in the trade, but this family-run business shows no signs of slowing down. In recent months Lynnet has continued to develop its multi-venue Royal Exchange Square premises, with a new events space above its private members’ club, a revamped roof terrace, the addition of nightclub The 212 and the Royal Exchange Coffee Shop. And there’s more to come. The ongoing investment has paid dividends, with revenues up across each of its venues.
Maclay Inns Alloa
Under the leadership of MD Steve Mallon, Maclay has steadily built a portfolio of 26 pubs. And further expansion is on the horizon. The pub group, which aims to double the size of its estate in the next three to fi ve years, signed a supply deal with
Tennent Caledonian Breweries earlier this year, under which the brewer will provide investment for acquisitions. Across its existing estate, a focus on offering value for money, food and drink has helped each outlet weather the tough economic conditions.

PB Devco Aberdeen
The Aberdeen operator has continued to expand its diverse portfolio, adding the Bieldside Inn and The Howff in the past 12 months to give it a broad range of outlets spanning local pubs, style bars, nightclubs, restaurants and a casino. And it’s not just the managed side of the business that has expanded – PB Devco acquired a further three outlets which it leases out. The company’s steady growth over the last 25 years is put down to the Clarkson family’s attention to detail and hands-on approach.
