New Holland Pro Rodeo Series Plays to Sold Out Crowds All Three Days of the Powassan Fall Fair and Rodeo

The final event of the inaugural New Holland Pro Rodeo Series played to over 10,000 spectators, with sold out audiences for all three performances at the Powassan Fall Fair and Rodeo held during the Labour Day long weekend. No mean feat for a com- munity of 3,000 plus residents.

In only its second year at the annual fair, the A Bar K produced rodeo attracted serious cowboy power from across Ontario, Quebec, eastern USA and some significant participa- tion from a pair of the hottest young cowboy stars out of western Canada.

“The fair needed a major draw,” said Powassan Agricultural Society president Lorne Byers. “Like most community fairs, it needed a fresh spark of excitement and enter- tainment to attract not only local residents, but visitors and the seasonal cottage crowd who call the Lake Nipissing area their sum- mer playground,” he said.

COURSE DATES: November 22-25

The capacity crowd was not disappoint- ed, with exceptional performances daily from the toughest, raw power rodeo sports of bare- back and saddle bronc riding, plus the ulti- mate extreme sport of bull riding. Eighteen year old Alberta native Tyler Ewart contin- ued his blistering hot streak of wins this sea- son with an almost unprecedented five for five stream of bull riding victories. Younger brother Dan, only 15 years of age, pulled the ‘terror of the patch’ bull, distinguishing him- self as a serious competitor and one of the toughest cowboys of the future.

The talented contingent of Quebec cow- boys dominated the bronc riding with Lewis Hemart, Phil Harvey and Pascal Isobelle delivering best performances from some of the toughest rough stock in the sport. Sunday’s final performance was dedicat- ed to breast cancer awareness in a “tough for pink” campaign with both cowboys and spec- tators making donations to the charity’s local branch.

“I couldn’t have scripted a better year- end close for the inaugural New Holland Pro Rodeo Series”, said A Bar K Rodeo produc- er Shawn Orr, referring to the stands packed with cheering fans and the incredible rodeo performances delivered by some of the best cowboys to ever hit eastern Canada. “The atmosphere was absolutely electric from start to finish.”
