of both 2012 Performance-Quebec (cat. 6) and AQR (cat. 2) divisions. It was a fierce competition: A rerun was required to break the tie. The winning mare was Too Good To Spook (Smart Spook x Goody Goody Dun Stop), also owned by Equine Plus: André de Bellefeuille is indeed the owner of Equine Plus (Excalibur Farm).

Johanne Touchette (St-Alexis, Québec, Canada) showed her geld- ing to Reserve Championship titles of both Futurities: Gotta Great Spook (Spooks Gotta Gun x Pines Valentine Girl)

Historical Performances

In Québec’s living history, it was the first time that an owner/rider (André de Bellefeuille) and his home farm trainer (Matthew Hudson) make a clean sweep of all 4 Québec Championship Futurity titles. “I was very proud of Matthew and myself” quoted a smiling André. “We work very hard, we have very good horses and these encouraging scores produce a super team effort” added André. “We will be showing in USA this Fall at the Columbus Congress and NRHA Oklahoma City

Futurity. We are very confident and these new challenges add to the past ones on top of being quite a thrill”.

The festive atmosphere ended with the crowning of Whata Whata Whiz and Matthew Hudson winning a double duty: 2012 Open Level 4 Performance-Quebec (cat. 6) and Open Level 4 AQR (cat. 2) Futurities. André de Bellefeuille, with Too Good To Spook, showed real control also performing a double shot win of 2012 Non Pro Level 4 Performance-Quebec (cat. 6) and Non Pro Level 4 AQR (cat. 2) divisions.

Open Futurity Level 4

The Aged Events of AQR’s ‘Gunners Peppy Oak’ Futurity Show is reserved to 3-yr old horses and has two sections: Both Performance-Quebec and AQR Futurities are held concurrently. The pre-entries already had 41 horses thirty days before the events. The 1st Go (termi- nal for all Levels 1 & 2 and a qualification for all Level 4 riders) was held on Thursday August 30 with 44 hors- es competing: 28 horses came back for the Sunday after- noon Finals and competed fiercely in front of a connois- seur crowd.

Matthew Hudson (Chambly, Québec, Canada), who had qualified three horses for Finals, draw 4th slot and marked 147.0 with the flashy palomino stallion Whata Whata Whiz (Walla Walla Whiz x Pines Fine Point). The 3-yr old colt is owned by Equine Plus (St-Basile-le- Grand, Québec, Canada). All next horses tried real hard to catch Matthew and some very fine runs really pleased the crowd but the 24-year-old trainer was never sup- planted from first place.

Alain Allard (St-Charles-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada), the 1989 NRHA Futurity winner, was named Reserve Champion of both Open Level 4 Futurities scoring 146.0 with The Last Whizard (Whizard Jac x Miss Kilo Star). The gelding is owned by Dominique Leclerc (St-Mathieu-de-Beloeil, Québec, Canada). Matthew Hudson, who is having an exceptional season on AQR Circuit and elsewhere in Canada and USA, also finished 3rd with Sweet Rowdy (Rowdy Yan- kee x Mi Sugar Dun It): The stallion is owned by André de Bellefeuille (St-Basile-le-Grand, Québec, Canada) Non Pro Futurity Level 4
