Team Ontario named for
Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships
Richmond Hill, ON – The Ontario Equestrian Federa- tion is pleased to announce the riders who will repre- sent the province at the upcoming Canadian Inter- provincial Equestrian Championships, taking place in Bromont, Que. from Sept. 21-23.
The Jumping team, coached by Grant Field, who is also the chef d’equipe, is comprised of two junior and two senior riders. The junior riders include Helen Chambers of Oakville on Utopia Belles and Dillon Sambasivam of Toronto on Tradition. Ben-
jamin Eyles of Mississauga on Luczio and Denis Sweeney of Peterborough on Foxworthy are the senior members on the team. In Dressage, Allie Schmidt of Campbellville, is the lone rider represent- ing Ontario. The junior rider will be showing her horse Walkin’ Shoes. “We wish Team Ontario safe and successful rides at the Canadian Inter- provincial Equestrian Championships,” says Dianne Graham, the execu- tive director of the Ontario Equestrian Federation. “It’s exciting to see such talent-
ed riders from across the country go head to head.” Recognized as a pilot project, the Canadian Inter- provincial Equestrian Championships is a collab- orative event between the national and provincial sport organizations govern- ing equestrian competition. A multi-discipline competi- tion, it is a key event in the development of the next generation of national, international and world champions. In addition to team awards, the Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships honour the individual junior and senior champion in the divisions of Jumper – 1.1 meter, Dressage – Level 1, and Reining.
In 2011, its inaugural year, the competition wel- comed riders from six provinces. That number has grown to nine provinces this year, with riders repre- senting Ontario, PEI, New- foundland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Alber- ta and Saskatchewan.

Jen’s Wish Fundraiser Will Grant The
Wishes of Her
Children
On Sept. 30, 2012, a special horse show will take place at Schone Feld Stables. The event, Jen’s Wish is being held to help raise money for two young kids Justin and Jessica who lost their Mom, Jen, a cou- ple years ago. Being raised by their grandmother, they are both horsey kids who love to ride at Schone Field Stables. The funds will go to help ensure they can continue to ride and for any other expenses that come up. Starting at 8:30 am, there will be three Classics. Entries are $40 and prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place in each division at 2’3”, 2’6” and 2’9”. Rib- bons will be given to 8th place. Pony games will be run for beginners and any- one who just wants to play. Bring your own pony or horse with a team of 4 or 5 people for only $20 a per- son. Prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place teams. Every player will leave with something. “Bring your horse, your coach, your team, family and friends and come have a fun day including a food booth and a silent auction.
