As OQHA President, I like to get out to as many events as possible, with the most recent one being the OQHA/AQHA Annual Trail Ride. This was my first time attending a trail ride, and I must say, it was a very enjoyable time. I would like to encour- age everyone to come out next year as I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.


September 7th through the 9th, Karen and Steve Cook offered their gorgeous Esker Springs Ranch which boasts miles of trails in the Kawartha Lakes region, just outside of the town of Omemee, Ontario hosting the OQHA/AQHA Annual Trail Ride. Karen and family as well as long-time friend Jann Ropp, put a lot of time and effort into ensuring a fun filled week- end for all attending. With what seems like the driest summer ever across Ontario, it was unfortunate that one of the few weekends calling for extensive rainfall was the weekend of the trail ride but that didn’t dampen the enthusi-

The festivities started off on the Friday evening with a bonfire social, followed by a continental breakfast on Saturday morning.


Due to heavy rainfall, the planned morning trail ride was postponed until later in the afternoon, in hopes the skies would clear.
