TROUBLE at the

HASC

Families may be aware that DIO are going through some significant changes at the moment, particularly with the transfer of their Service Family Accommodation (SFA) allocation teams from seven regional Housing Information Centres (HICs) to one Housing Allocation Service Centre (HASC) which will be located over two sites, at Aldershot and Thetford. This restructure is throwing up some issues…

T

he RAF FF team has seen a noticeable increase in the number of families raising concerns about problems and delays they are experiencing when trying to telephone the HASC to discuss

their applications for SFA. The Federation has already highlighted the concerns to the appropriate senior staffs within DIO, as have the Naval and Army Families Federations, and will continue to monitor the situation.

Whilst the RAF FF team will do their very best to support families experiencing problems accessing the DIO services, we would ask all to note that the Federation team is small with only one dedicated

Housing specialist and that the Federation staff, too sometimes experience similar challenges when trying to access DIO staff.

It is important though, that the Federation team understands the level of difficulty families are experiencing and therefore welcome all evidence to that effect so that we can represent these concerns to the appropriate authorities.

DIO Ops Accommodation manages over 49,000 properties and well over 100,000 Service personnel and their families living in those properties so please do, when you contact the HASC or DIO staff, either by telephone, email or fax, provide full details of name, rank, Service number, unit, current full address if referring to an issue about a specific SFA, contact telephone numbers and any other useful information or reference numbers, so the enquiry can be handled as efficiently and quickly as possible.

It was hoped that Self-Preference of SFA would ease some of the traffic to and from the HASC but technical issues have forced a delay on the original go live date in May 12. The new date for launch is 20 Jun 12.

The HASC does have new contact details although the telephone number remains the same: 0800 169 6322. Addresses, email contacts and fax numbers are as follows:

HASC Aldershot, Building 3, ABRO, Ordnance Road, Aldershot, GU11 2AA. Fax: 01252 318591/348636 Email: DIOOpsAccn-HASCTeam1@ mod.uk For all London Locations and South East England.
