MARKET GROWTH OFFERS BOOST FOR PISCINE 2012

NEW MIDDLE EAST SHOW STARTS WITH A BOOM

The growing importance of the swiming pool and hot tub industry in the Middle East and surrounding regions of Bahrain, East Africa, India, Mediterranean countries, Oman, Qater, Saudi Arabia, South West Asia and United Arab Emirates was reflected in a hugely successful launch in April of Piscine Middle East.

The pool market in France, the second largest in the world, continues to prove its dynamism, with growth of 6.5% in the first nine months of 2011, the latest figures available. The recession -breaking figures present a perfect background for what will again be Europe’s biggest specialist trade show in 2012 as Piscine, the spa and private pool exhibition, and Aqualie, the aquatic and wellbeing centres exhibition, combine in an event held once every two years in Lyon.

The three day show runs from 13 to 16 November.

Organisers of the event say that despite difficult financial conditions, the specialist trade is showing both current growth and long term potential.

In a difficult economic climate,

gardens and pools are widely viewed as safe investments in France and Europe.

There are an estimated six million pools in Europe.

These trends are reflected in the rest of the world, say organisers, with pool sales rising fastest in those countries where purchasing power is going up, such as India, Brazil, some Asian countries, Russia, and parts of Europe.

Organisers of Piscine UK, the new NEC based trade show, have announced it plans to hold new awards alongside the three day event in January 2013.

The format will follow the awards run at Piscine in Lyon and will put the emphasis on new products, environmental and sustainability products and services.

Piscine UK is being organised by New Events Ltd with the backing of GL Events who run the biennial trade show in Lyon.

The UK show has been booked to run at Birmingham’s NEC from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 January. Claire Saunders from New Events said: “The awards are just the start

of us giving back into the industry. They will follow the form of awards run at the Lyon show. The emphasis will be on technological innovation, worldwide launched products and sustainable development. They will put a lot of emphasis on giving recognition to eco and water sustainability products – a massive area of importance for the pool and spa trade.”

The Lyon event holds a gala awards evening as part of its awards prize giving ceremony.

Eco Attitude) and Pool Vision programme, presenting the most outstanding and novel pool projects from around the world.”

Piscine works hard working with architects and designers as a key part of its visitor promotion. “We have also committed to calling all the professionals individually to help them make the most of their visit by providing them with the personalised help they need. “Our aim is to provide them with the information they need to develop their professional activity – new products, training, information on the latest trends and pool demonstrations.”

The show brought leading international exhibitors to Abu Dhabi to meet their counterparts, showcase the latest innovation from the global pool industry and provide the opportunity to discuss the challenges of one of the most dynamic pool markets in the world. Sixty international exhibitors and over 2,000 visitors attended the first show which showcased a high quality range of swimming pools, spa products and services to specifiers and buyers from the Middle East, North Africa and sub- continental Asia.

Noémi Petit, Show Director for GL Events Exhibitions, said that world leading companies exhibited at the show. “The region has seen a massive shift focused on the wellbeing experience, expanding on an established market for pool and spa equipment and facilities. The UAE itself has become a phenomenon for the sector,” she says. The event in Abu Dhabi was held from 22 April to 25 April. The Piscine brand will be seen again at Piscine Splash!
