lifts up from a heated corner of the spa to prevent the screen from misting up, along with multicoloured underwater lighting. As customer demographics changed, the potential 25–40 year old ‘baby boomer’ purchasers looked not only for the health aspect of the product but for added value enhancements, such as sound, light and entertainment. This in contrast to the more traditional therapeutic demands of the 40-60 year age group meant that products had to meet the demands of all sectors.

Marquis upgraded its products by fitting as standard integrated cushioned headrests and cascading waterfalls on all models, yet also including the ability to have stereo sound, a video screen and multi-coloured underwater lighting if required.

Inside the spa the water jetting system has been improved with the ‘Tri-Zone Hydrotherapy’™ and ‘PowerShift’ jets delivering three levels of relief to the upper, middle and lower body, including massaging aching feet, all available from each single seat.

To ensure the water temperature is maintained throughout the spa and the bathing period, filtered water is drawn into the primary pumps and simultaneously routed through a high-flow heating system ahead of the jet systems. With the development of iPods and MP3 players the market has to move to incorporate them and so more and more hot tubs are developing audio systems which also provide FM radio and CD player access. Even floating remote controls allows adjustment to the music without the need to break the relaxation circle and step out, dry a hand and step back in!

Waterproof enclosures are included to protect the iPod from accidental splashes so everyone is safe and can relax in the knowledge that everything is protected.

Artesian Spas recently introduced SmartPhone technology in their top end hot tubs, the Platinum Elite line. Four models – Quail Ridge, Dove Canyon, Piper Glen and Pelican Bay – will feature BluetoothR audio streaming and iPhone/iPad/iPod touchR control capability, allowing a wireless connection between the hot tub owner and their spa.

This technology not only allows control over stereo functions wirelessly, but the ability to monitor a spa for care and maintenance. This

feature allows changing, adjusting, or even customising settings to create the ideal ambiance. The new technology is available in the United States and has been a huge success and was launched in the UK at the beginning of April.

Sundance Spas has been setting the industry standard in hot tub design and engineering for more than 30 years and has achieved unsurpassed international recognition and takes pride in offering customers hot tubs that are considered the benchmarks for contemporary luxury. Cheshire based Sundance Spas is proud of its new MicroClean Plus™ Filtration System which is available on some of its selected 800 Series spas. Sundance believes it surpasses all others for ensuring pure, clear water with low maintenance, cost-saving energy efficiency and lower chemical usage. It works with the Dynamic Flow Circulation System and the Sentry Smart Heater to help purify and heat the water continuously. In addition, for all new 2012 models, the company has added Clearray Water Purification – a system that after years of external laboratory and in field testing, Sundance has perfected. The new system makes water care a breeze, even reducing the amount of sanitising chemicals needed. It works by treating water using exclusive UV-C light technology, which means no gas, chemicals, or other by-product is added to the water or produced as a result.

The system treats 99.9% of waterborne bacteria and viruses, is factory installed, produces no harmful odours or by-products and reduces sanitising chemical usage by up to 50%. Sundance offers a 10 year warranty on its shell spa and seven years on shell surface and five years on equipment, controls and plumbing components.

One dealer selling from the Cheshire Sundance Spa dealership Alfresco Life Ltd said that there was a real demand from people who wanted to move from their existing hot tub to a top end brand. “We see all the time that people who bought a tub some time ago look at what is now available in our showrooms and they just think ‘wow’. I think there are a lot of those people around.” spn
