Covrex glides safely into place on this large overflow pool

The Aquaflex eco-friendly solar slatted safety cover

swimming classes, but also for hotel pools and pools at camp sites. Due to its modular system, BlueFox can also be adapted to suit any commercial pool.

POOL COVERS OFFER SWIFT AND SAFE REASSURANCE

Safety covers still stand up as being one of the most effective and easily installed safety measures for pools.

Covrex automatic safety covers from Fairlocks Pool Products have a special versatility and thermo dynamics. With seven different installation options plus a perfect on-site finish, this eco-friendly cover is the one that will save energy, reduce running costs and retain heat levels within the pool that cannot be bettered – all of this whilst helping to keep the pool safe and secure.

Standard Top Mount is a system of two mounting supports and a shaft which are positioned above the pool. It is one of many options for this versatile pool cover. The motor is fitted inside the shaft to reduce the space required, making assembly simple and ideal for both new and retro fit applications. The Walu cover from Certikin gives you three covers for the price of one; installing one of these means you can dispense with a solar bubble cover and its reel system, a winter cover and all other safety systems as this multi-tasking cover will do it all for you!

First and foremost it is a safety cover. Manufactured to the stringent French NF P90-308 safety standard and comfortably holding a weight of 100kg, the Walu offers solar and heat retention benefits and acts as a first class winter cover. Unlike other safety covers, where the whole system needs to be replaced if it should become damaged, all individual parts on the Walu cover are replaceable. The cover’s panels and anodised aluminium tubes are interchangeable and so can be replaced, if necessary, and on site.

Two models are available – Evolution for all pool shapes up to 11m x 5 m and Starlight for all rectangular pools up to 11m by 5.50m. Shaping for ladders and step sections is accommodated and does not, in anyway, compromise safety. Another level of safety includes the pool enclosures, now seen as an opportunity to allow all year round swimming but the safety aspect is always to the fore. Added to the savings in heating and cleaning which a pool enclosure can bring, the prospect becomes very attractive for families looking for a quick fix to pool safety. The different types of enclosures also include architect designed buildings, glazed conservatories, log cabins and specialist aluminium/PVC and polycarbonate/glass enclosures specifically designed for the swimming pool environment.

Since changes in the planning rules for England in 2008, it has become more straight forward to determine if planning permission is needed. Local authorities can confirm the relevant requirements, which are set out under Class E of the Town and Country (General Permitted development) (Amendment) (No. 2) (England) Order 2008.

POOLGUARD ALARMS OFFER RE- ASSURANCE

Safe Water Alarms stress the point that once a Poolguard alarm is installed in the pool it cannot be de-activated. It is always in the ‘alarm-ready’ mode. It automatically wakes up and runs a system test and will detect an intrusion similar to a one year old child weighing 18 pounds and up. The alarm, which has been tested to European standards, works on a 9-volt battery with a life of approximately one year. If someone falls in the pool an 85db horn sounds. It comes with an in-house remote receiver with a range up to 200 ft and a 12 volt power supply that plugs into a wall socket.

New sensing technology provides less chance of false alarms due to wind, rain or small objects

such as sticks or toys entering the water. It works with a pool up to 20ft x 40ft (800 sq. ft.), can be used with a pool cover and comes with a three year warranty. spn
