Hippo Leisure’s innovative splash toys are proving a hit at leisure centres looking to rejuvenate their pools to create an unforgettable family experience!

A selection of interactive play panels and Squirtums has allowed children to splat, squirt and spray together at Concordia Leisure Centre in Cramlington in Northumberland whatever their age or ability. The splash toys have been a successful extension to the centre’s water factory located in the pool’s beach area. This already included an interactive waterball, interactive masts, water wheels, shark showers, small and large tipping buckets and water channels. The panels and Squirtums utilise space on the pool side as well as adding excitement to pool fun sessions. They are also ideal for building water confidence in toddlers and children with SEN who prefer to play on the pool side. The simple installation was carried out by the pool operator without the need to close the pool or disrupt the pool activity programme.

Blackburn Leisure Centre will be

the next leisure centre to reap the benefits from Hippo splash toys. The centre is due to have a splash zone created in time for the summer holidays which features include Squirtum hand pumps, interactive play panels, a short mast and water channels. Blackburn is looking to

PROMISES ON WATER SAFETY STANDARDS

Water safety industry in the UK will not be allowed to slip despite tough economic conditions.

The National Water Safety Seminar, hosted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, heard that the water safety industry is committed to improving standards, despite the continuation of tough operating conditions. The event in Birmingham brought together 100 professionals whose work encompasses all aspects of water safety including swimming pool and water sports safety professionals . It took place weeks after statistics revealed there were 420 water- related deaths from accidents or natural causes in the UK in 2010, the last figures available.

David Walker, RoSPA’s Leisure Safety Manager said: “The fact that more than 400 lives were lost from accidents or natural causes in water in 2010 provides the impetus for staying focused on prevention.”
