Enjoy traditional Balkan fare and warm, friendly hospitality as we cycle through Serbia’s unspoilt countryside and timeless villages. Traverse beautiful landscapes of the South Morava Valley, with its ancient forests and traditional farmland. This area is rich in medieval monasteries and we visit two of these during our stay.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Belgrade; drive to Lisine. Day 2 Manasija Monastery Cycle to the Resavska Cave and then to Despotovac for lunch. On our way back to Lisine we visit the Manasija Monastery and villages of Panjevac and Sladaja. Day 3 Lisine to Cuprija Cycle through the forests of Kucajske Planine to Ravanica Monastery then on to Cuprija. Day 4 Vrmdza Loop Cycle to Resnik where we visit the watermill and try some local produce. Return to Vrmdza and Sokobanja for a Turkish bath. Day 5 Sokobanja to Nis Cycle through Jezero and Miljkovac to Nis and visit the Turkish Citadel and Skull tower en route. Day 6 Selicevica Loop A long but beautiful ride today through hills, mountains and the countryside around Nis. Day 7 Nis Cycle to Sicevo village for local wine tasting then on to Cegar Hill, a memorial commemerating the first Serbian uprising against the Turks. Day 8 Drive to Belgrade and fly to the UK.

Route and Terrain: On this tour we cycle 321 km over six days (an average of 54 km per day) with additional longer rides available. Two of the days follow circular routes and therefore can be opted out of. We cycle mainly on paved roads and on some dirt tracks – traffic is generally light. A support vehicle is available throughout the tour. We have graded the route as moderate to strenuous.
