We discover the varied and beautiful scenery of Tuscany with a rewarding combination of circular and linear routes. From our base in Chianti we cycle through the classic winelands, forested national park and the cultural gem of San Gimignano. We spend time in the ancient city of Siena before heading further south to the classic hilltop villages of Montalcino and Monticchiello.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Flight to Florence; transfer to Castellina in Chianti. Day 2 Chianti winelands A circular ride through forests, vineyards and picturesque Chianti villages. Day 3 San Gimignano Cycle to Gimignano to see the thirteen magnificent medieval towers, perched majestically on a hilltop. Day 4 South to Siena Riding south through classic Tuscan scenery we make our way to the grand city of Siena. Day 5 Siena Today is left free to explore this wonderful city or take an optional trip north to Florence. Day 6 San Quirico Cycling further south the landscape slowly transforms into the popular image of rolling vineyards dotted with Cypress trees and beautiful hilltop villages. Day 7 Picture Postcard Tuscany Another circular cycle route through wonderful villages that winds up in the reviving thermal waters of Bagno Vignoni. Day 8 Drive to Florence and fly to London.

Route and Terrain: We cycle 287 km over five days mainly on tarmac (average 57 km per day). The terrain is hilly over the first three days, then flattens out onto the plain with some hilltop towns on our route. 80% on tarmac roads and 20% on gravel roads. A support vehicle is available on the two days where the route is linear. The tour is graded moderate to strenuous.
