2011 IN REVIEW When a dream becomes a reality

The physiotherapist Katharina Trübswasser wanted a striking reception desk for her practice, which also hides the radiator. “I in no case wanted one of those medical desks in white or beige, which immediately bring to mind hospitals,” Katharina says. "And then one night I had a dream in which I saw

a desk in an old English ambience with lily patterns. Katharina sat down at her computer and typed in the words ‘perforated sheets’ and ‘lilies’. Seconds later she was on the MEVACO homepage. “MEVACO had precisely the metal sheet that I was looking for and even in the right size, Katharina says.” It was also delivered in next to no time to my metalworker.” For more information visit www.mevaco.co.uk

Flying colours with RSL & the RAF

RSL were delighted to supply their Resucoat HB for an RAF hanger used for the servicing of military aeroplanes. The brief was that the area required a flooring system, which would assist with light reflection and be durable to the requirements of the work area. The contractors Fast Track Floors specified RSL’s Resucoat HB in white. Resucoat HB is a two-pack solvent free, high build epoxy resin system for

application as an industrial floor coating duty coating. Resucoat H.B. can be applied at a thickness from 400 to 600 microns in two coats. The coloured high gloss finish is durable and hard-wearing and the chosen colour creates a reflective finish to meet the client’s requirements. Prior to the Contractors commencing the application of the coating they had to prepare the sub-floor by thoroughly

cleaning the floor to remove debris and contamination. The area was subsequently vacuum assisted shot blasted to ensure the system would adhere to the concrete. Two coats of white Resucoat HB were applied at a thickness of 500 microns. The complete installation was finished in a 10 day cycle in order to be ready in time for the next fleet of military aeroplanes to come into the hanger for service. The results were a light reflective floor system, which provided a brighter area for the engineers to service RAF equipment. The unusual choice of a white system proved to be a popular choice. The successful installation has led to Fastrack and RSL being requested to undertake further installations at the RAF base. David Boden of Fast Track commented, “The RAF project was a very successful installation, it ran well from start to finish. Everyone was amazed how the colour was received and the difference the colour made to the working environment. We have used Resucoat HB many times before and whilst white is an unusual colour to use for obvious reasons in terms of showing dirt, in this case white was a good choice as it reflected the light around the area perfectly and created a flooring system suitable to the customers ‘requirements’.” For more information telephone 0161 4831232 or visit www.resinsurfaces.co.uk
