2011 IN REVIEW Protection of Atlantic Proportions

Winn & Coales Denso Ultraseal Tape followed by Denso Acrylic Topcoat is offering protection from an Atlantic Ocean environment plus attack by seagulls on the North Rona Lighthouse, 40 miles north of the Butt of Lewis. The Denso materials were applied to roofs of the engine room and accommodation block in a 2011 refurbishment. In 1983 Denso Flashing Tape had been used to seal the fibreglass base roof sections of the engine room and accommodation block. As well as being subject to the harsh environment, the Flashing Tape was also being attacked by seagulls. Winn & Coales suggested the Ultraseal Tape would provide both the protection required in the North Atlantic environment and also be less visible to the gulls. For more information telephone 020 8670 7511, email mail@denso.net or visit www.denso.net

A top level approach

Savvy homeowners are optimising the space in their property during these tough economic times by creating storage space in their lofts. Utilising space already available and making it as accessible as possible not only gives them the option to stay in their homes but, for those wishing to move, it enhances the sale potential of their property. Without the right equipment getting into the loft can be tricky and dangerous. To remedy this issue, many architects, specifiers and contractors work closely with loft ladder specialist Premier Loft Ladders to ensure they choose loft ladder installations which combine safety and ease of access. Leading the way is Premier’s Supreme range of superbly engineered concertina-style, easy-to-fit, counter balance aluminium stairways, all of which are available with an impressive choice of industry-leading options to meet all requirements. These include a laminated wood trapdoor and lining, together with a weatherproof, insulated roof hatch, attached to the Supreme – which has a maximum floor to ceiling height up to 4600mm - for flat roof access. The roof hatch has an all round rubber seal and is clad with zinc coated 1.5mm sheet steel. For more information email sales@premierloftladders.co.uk

Steelcase launch the P60 office range

The brainchild of the multiple-award-winning Spanish designer Mario Ruiz, the P60 collection includes desks, conference tables and numerous storage solutions and is based on a geometric design and clear architectural lines which embody simplicity and balanced harmony. “In the world of furniture, I try to make contents that have something to do with the structure of the building, where one should feel well in one’s self,” Ruiz explains. P60 is designed for creating workspaces suitable for both individual work and teamwork, and the range allows easy storage thanks to specially-adapted storage solutions such as supporting pedestals. Meetings around the elegant conference tables can also be combined with cutting-edge technology, as the tables are supplied with intelligently integrated media connections. “We live in a media-focused world in which we can’t imagine being without our laptops, iPads and smartphones,” says Steelcase’s P60 product manager Henri Foucaud. “As a result, the compatibility of furniture with modern technology is an important prerequisite during the design phase.” P60 items are available with various cable management options and in a wide range of finishes and materials - from different types of wood, such as European maple, smoked oak or rosewood, to sumptuous leather and elegant glass, allowing the manager to personalise their space. As Steelcase has committed to sustainable production in its role as Corporate Climate Responsibility Leader, the wood elements of the executive range have been PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified. This ensures that the wood originates from sustainably managed forests. For more information telephone 0207 2492200 or visit www.steelcase.com
