largest PV installations in Ireland. The 130kWp system, which comprises of 553 235Wp Yingli crystalline PV modules, is expected to generate circa 100,000kWh per annum. Similar systems have already been installed at Kingspan Insulation’s manufacturing facility in Pembridge and Kingspan Insulated Panels plant in Holywell. At 800kW and 406kW respectively, they are currently two of the largest roof-top PV arrays in the UK. At both plants the PV systems were designed to supply a significant proportion of the site’s lighting and manufacturing electricity needs. Marley Eternit will be exhibiting a range of sustainable and innovative products at Ecobuild. Charlotte Hughes, campaign manager at Marley Eternit says: “With buildings responsible for almost half of the UK’s carbon emissions, the carbon usage of a building is a key consideration when preparing to meet impending zero carbon deadlines. However, as increased use of
operating costs. With a return on investment in some cases as little as two years, it is no wonder major commercial outfits are choosing to partner with Guardian in order to reduce their energy bills. For more information email

Manual As of November 2011 Construction Industry Publications has updated its Environmental Manual. This set of amendments includes an expanded and updated glossary and a new and improved set of Toolbox Talks. This new set of Environmental Toolbox Talks has been revised and updated by a working party comprising of CECA and UKCG members and CIP and CIRIA representatives. They build on the success of the previous set, providing concise guidance and best practice on Environmental Risks. An amendment has also been made to incorporate the changes that came into force on 28 September to the written information that must accompany a transfer of waste. The Producer/Holder/Consignee must now sign a declaration confirming they have fulfilled their duty to apply the waste hierarchy. For non-hazardous waste there is also now a requirement to give their SIC Code. In the case of hazardous waste there is now only one type of Consignment Note used for both single and multiple collections. Copies of the ‘Construction Environmental Manual’ are available to order from Construction Industry Publications (CIP). The hard copy and CD-Rom cost £140 each and the six-monthly updates, £27 each.
