rhodes Casino Rhodes is located in the Grande Albergo delle Rose building and it is the only casino on the island. It was opened in 1999 There is 1,700 sq.m of gaming spread over two floors. The lower floor has 310 slot machines whilst the upper floor offers 34 gaming tables. There are also three restaurants and hotel with 33 suites, an amphitheatre and sports bar. The casino received 165,000 visitors in 2009. It is managed by Queenco Leisure International.


syros Casino Syros was opened in 1997 and is located in Ermoupolis and housed in two


restored mansions that are connected to each other with an underground corridor. The casino includes 26 gaming tables including American Roulette, Poker and Blackjack and 180 video slot machines over 2,100 sq.m of gaming space. There are no multiplayer or video poker games. It is operated by Aegean Casinos.

The Greek government presented the bill aimed at raising around €700m this year from the issue of 15-55 new licences to its parliament last month.


Greece’s draft legislation has already undergone several changes since being introduced in January. Last month the government voted for a 30 per cent gross profit tax (GPT) instead of the six per cent turnover levy originally proposed after briefing from lobby group the Remote Gambling Association.


The Greek government also dropped plans in April for a “black period,” requiring applicant operators to cease activity in the market until licensed with online gaming continuing to date.
