of Dutch settlers arrived in Oak Harbor. On the last weekend in
April the
town fills with tulips in celebration of the annual Holland Happening. Enjoy authentic Dutch food as you watch a wooden shoe carver or a deſt painter skillfully exact their craſt, and enjoy the wide variety of displays and activities. Deception Pass Bridge joins Fidalgo and Whidbey islands. The bridge is surrounded by the 3,000 wooded acres of Deception Pass State Park, which attracts 3 million visitors a year, making it Washington State’s most popular park. Today, the boating
tradition continues in the form of pleasure boats, whose skippers have discovered Oak Harbor to be an ideal cruising destination. Whidbey Island Race Week is an unparalleled sailing event in the Northwest US - British Columbia region. Consisting of five days of competitive round-the-buoys racing, this event has been recognized as one of the Top-20 Regattas in the World, and Top-10 Regattas in the United States. Race Week has evolved from an all-out sailboat race into a fun-filled, family sports week, with action onshore including volleyball, barbecues, music and social events. Predictable summer winds make it the Northwest’s premier summer sailing event.
