AFTERSCHOOL
Tiffany Nixon, Roundabout Archivist, visits Esperanza Preparatory Academy to investigate color in costumes.
Education@Roundabout conducted a total of 4 after school programs: 3 at schools as an extension of our School Partnerships program and 1 at Roundabout’s Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre through our Student Production Workshop (SPW) program.
DURING THE 2010/11 SCHOOL YEAR: ■ Roundabout hosted two Cultural After School Adventures (CASA) partnerships, supported by the New York City Council. ■ Students in our CASA partnership at I.S. 34 created their own student-driven theatre company, Imagination 34.
■ SPW participants met from November-August for a total of 331 hours, leading to their culminating original production, Remote Control, performed at the Black Box Theatre.
■ SPW participants attended 9 productions during the 2010/11 Roundabout season and were mentored by 28 Roundabout production artists.
DURING THE 2010/11 SCHOOL YEAR:
■ 100% of seniors who participated in SPW graduated high school and planned to go to college.
■ 349 students from 21 schools throughout New York City participated in our after school programs.
■ 3 student-produced plays were presented. TA Nick Moore mentors a student sound designer. 18
