SCHOOLPARTNERSHIPS

RTC TA Devin Haqq explores The People in the Picture with students at James Madison High School.

School Partnerships are at the core of our work, targeting middle schools and high schools with limited access to the arts through highly individualized residencies tailored to meet the needs of each school across all subjects from language arts and history to math and science.

DURING THE 2010/11 SCHOOL YEAR:

■ 2,611 students and 163 teachers were reached through 18 School Partnership residencies.

■ 1,497 hours of theatrical production mentoring were provided through School Partnership residencies.

■ 105 customized workshops were completed.

■ 190 students were reached through 11 after school residencies consisting of 20 to 40 sessions.

Students from JKO High School participate in a school-wide interdisciplinary project. SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS YEAR’S SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS:

■ Students from FDR High School in Brooklyn saw Roundabout’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest and then created their own version that was set in Prospect Park.

■ Ninth grade students from Manhattan’s JKO High School used their algebra studies to create a production budget for a Roundabout Underground production.

■ Students from Brooklyn School for Music and Theatre collaborated with members of C&T, a theatre company in the United Kingdom.

■ Students from Staten Island’s Curtis High School spent a day in the Roundabout Archives to get design inspiration for their upcoming production of Cabaret.
