SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS


Principal Deborah Effinger, with RTC TA Jason Jacobs, is honored by Roundabout and her students at the Bronx Theatre High School graduation.


In 2003, Roundabout Theatre Company was the lead cultural partner in the creation of Bronx Theatre High School through the New Century High Schools Initiative. Bronx Theatre High School was created to investigate the scope and sequence of a standards-based college preparatory curriculum through the lens of producing theatre. Roundabout and Principal Deborah Effinger formed an effective and dynamic partnership from the very beginning, designing and implementing a completely interdisciplinary teaching philosophy and theatre arts curriculum that continues today.


THIS YEAR, PRINCIPAL EFFINGER WAS HONORED BY MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG WITH A 2010 MAYOR’S AWARD FOR ARTS AND CULTURE.

Roundabout works with the entire school — student body, faculty and staff — as they develop productions, events, new courses and clubs. Through our partnership, every person in our school has had the opportunity to develop the strength, the drive and the desire to be creative through our love of the arts. Roundabout has helped us to become independent creative thinkers and has risen to every challenge to make each performance or event into a spectacular form of artistic expression.
