Fujitsu ScanSnap document scanners now talk to iPhones and iPads
F
ujitsu subsidiary PFU is the first vendor to offer Scan-to-iPhone and Scan-to-iPad software functions connecting paper-based documents directly to the mobile
Apple world. With the new software enhancements, PFU will address the ever- growing number of iPhone and iPad users who require access to their data, including electronic images, on their mobile or tablet device. Documents can be easily transferred from their PC or Mac directly to their iPhone or iPad. All they need to do is click on the new ‘Scan-to-Mobile’; button in the ScanSnap software’s Quick Menu.
They can now also scan contact data and documents into SalesForce CRM, SalesForce Chatter and SugarSync Personal Cloud applications in seconds. The free software updates are available for the scanner models ScanSnap S1100, S1300, S1500 and S1500M, to new as well as to existing customers. The new functions demonstrate PFU's continued investment in the emerging cloud solution offerings that it started with the launch of the highly portable ScanSnap S1100 model in early 2011.
[subhead] Seamless communication iPhone/iPad users can download the free ScanSnap app from the iTunes AppStore
and update their ScanSnap Manager and Organiser applications online, in order to ensure seamless communication between ScanSnap document scanners and Apple smartphones and smartpads. Sales representatives, lawyers, or architects, for example, can now benefit from working with scanned documents by digitising extensive files, contracts or plans before they go out on the road. They do not need to carry heavy files and valuable original documents can stay in the office.
Furthermore, sales and marketing staff can save time due to the integration with CRM applications. For example, they can scan business cards and send contact information to SalesForce CRM with a click of the mouse. Alternatively, they can store sales documents in SalesForce Chatter or SugarSync and thus share them with co- workers or make them available for further processing.
