Jeffrey Huang: Important enhancements for sectors such as retail, hospitality and healthcare.

U

nitech Europe has introduced its latest PDA solution, the PA500II. This new enterprise companion is the restyled and

upgraded version of the company’s successful PA500. By combining what Unitech describes as future proof functionalities for fast and familiar usage and an ergonomic design, this new enterprise PDA has been designed to put flexible, durable and cost saving computing in the hands of mobile workers.

Fitting the need of emerging markets

With the PA500II Unitech reports that it fulfils the

specific need for enterprise-grade PDAs that are often demanded by growing AIDC vertical markets such as hospitality, healthcare and retail. The PA500II combines a host of mission- critical functionality within a slim, compact and durable design. Jeffrey Huang, managing director of Unitech Europe, commented: “We kept the design of the PA500II similar to its predecessor because this element was very much appreciated by the market. Only on the inside have we made some important changes concerning the processing power and Wi-Fi performance. By incorporating a Summit Wi-Fi module the PA500II now offers seamless roaming, which is critical in hospitality and healthcare environments.”

Solutions

With its large touch screen and user- friendly keyboard, the PA500II offers a familiar style of operation to the user. Unitech believes this is perfect for applications in hospitality where users can take orders easily and accurately, or to ensure the speedy and accurate

checking of entree tickets at stadiums. It also suits the need of hospital personnel who require a pocket-size digital unit that can also handle important check lists. Unitech adds that users in

retail can also put their trust in the PA500II for uses including mobile

POS. Users can also connect to a mobile printer via Bluetooth for printing on-site. Unitech reports that, through the use of the PA500II, worker flexibility and output can be increased significantly, while customer satisfaction can also be enhanced.

Small and highly durable According to Unitech, the PA500II offers considerably greater durability than consumer-grade PDAs. It can withstand multiple 1.0 meter drops to concrete, but can fit easily into a shirt or trouser pocket. Its small size and light weight make it a highly suitable device for employees that face customers or patients every day; for example, order taking within hospitality, digital agenda for medical personnel or mobile POS in retail. The PA500II serves different needs in different applications. The large touch screen is claimed to allow easy and error-free data input, while the device’s battery is said to be able to operate for longer than a full day shift.

The PA500II is designed to fit in hospitality and retail environments often surrounded by many Wi Fi hotspots. Unitech reports that the device’s Summit radio offers good roaming performance to ensure no order is missed. The company adds that through using the PA500II worker flexibility and output can increase significantly, while customer satisfaction levels can also be raised.
