t ScanSource Europe, we like to say that the success of the channel is based on specialisation and partnership. By
partnering together we can harness the specialisation within the channel to provide end customers with a full wrap- around solution and form the basis of a long-term relationship.
Our customers tell us they are looking for a base on which they can build their business, using the services and tools a distributor offers to construct and enhance their own offer. As a part of this approach, ScanSource Europe launched AppSource nearly one year ago, an online store giving resellers convenient access to a library of applications that can be downloaded for free to test, simulate, demo, customise and configure to ensure they meet the needs of their customer.
A webstore where resellers can browse and directly buy applications, AppSource is aimed primarily at the small and medium business segment, where it is often cost prohibitive to develop custom software applications. AppSource enables these resellers to add software to their sales of handheld terminals and sell a full working solution rather than just the hardware.
As it approaches its first anniversary, AppSource now has over 25 ready- made data-capture applications available for use on around 30 of the industry’s best selling handheld terminals by manufacturers such as Datalogic Mobile, Honeywell, Intermec, LXE and Motorola. It means that there
are now apps available that are suitable to be used by end customers in a range of sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing,
