First edition thus. this is the first omnibus edition of the three volumes from Pullman’s acclaimed Northern Lights trilogy. it is signed in ink by the author to the title-page and also contains the scarce loosely inserted “letter of acknowledgement” which was supposed to be included in all copies but in reality made it into quite few. this flyer is also signed in blue biro by Pullman beneath the printed signature.

second edition. this is ricauti’s second and last work, first published in the year of his death in 1842. the book follows on from his first work, Rustic Architecture (1840), in its designs for picturesque cottages using rough wood and thatch as the principal decoration. it also looks at the smaller features essential to a pleasing landscape. of particular interest are the garden bridges that follow loudon’s exhortations to avoid the use of peeled oak for such structures, preferring instead “in every case... the bark kept on”. ricauti also includes designs for lodges, pigeon houses, fences and garden furniture.
