First edition illustrated thus. anne anderson (born 1874 of scottish parents) married, in 1912, the artist, writer, and illustrator alan Wright. the pair collaborated on many projects in the field of children’s illustration and sometimes, unusually, even worked on the same illustrations, which they signed jointly. “her work was highly characteristic of the period and echoed the languid Art Nouveau charm of the work of Jessie M. King; it enjoyed a considerable vogue during the 1920s.” (Peppin & Micklethwait. Dictionary of British Book Illustrators).
