The UWIC Men’s & Women’s Gaelic Football Team

to watch you play, and to get drunk afterwards, and then to be talking about what happened in the game for days after it.

League games are played in a “Blitz” tournament when the 4 teams within the league meet. The teams welcome each other at their venues and everyone watches each blitz. The teams then play each other and after the third blitz of the season the league champion is crowned. After each Blitz the teams get the chance to continue competitions in the bar, when the real fun starts.

Last year UWIC didn’t lose a game in their league and came within a point

of reaching the championship final, so this season the objective is clear for Sean; champions. Looking ahead to the championships in February with a weekender on tour at Birmingham, players will get to mingle with students from 50 other university teams across the UK, all coming together for a good time. This is a great opportunity for students looking for the perfect combination of staying fit and making the most of university life at UWIC. If you want to be apart of the team then the best way to get involved is to meet the lads and ladies at training at Cyncoed Campus on Wednesday’s and Friday’s, or check out the UWIC Gaelic Football Facebook page and UWIC SU website for more details.
