Real Steel Rating:
Rated: 12A Cert. Duration: 2hr 7min
Set in the future where robot boxing is a top sport, Charlie (Hugh Jackman) is a struggling promoter, yet feels he has found a champion in a discarded robot. However, on his way to the top of the game, he discovers he has an 11-year old son who wants to know his father. It is rare to get a film that both genders can enjoy equally. Although Real Steel manages to do this with such ease, there is just enough violence to
sustain the bloodthirsty (or in this case oil-thirsty) male audience. With just enough paternal emotion between Charlie and his estranged son Max, so that the female audiences don’t feel it is another dumb blockbuster. With some surprising acting ability from both the human and the metal cast. It echoes the stereotypes of Transformers and can arguably be said to be a cross between Rocky and The Iron Giant. Overall, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em fun for all ages.
