By Danny Donovan UWICSU Sports Journalist
The Gaelic Football Team extend a warm welcome to all male and female students looking for a club that is essentially organized around having a good time, no experience required, just bring your personality.
Things have come along way for team manager Sean Davies and his squad since a meeting in Roath Park two years ago of 12 would be UWIC Gaelic Footballers. After initially hitting some obstacles in his first year of developing the team, Sean’s determination is met with captain Mattie Brady’s passion for the game, and the pair have successfully reigned in a strong squad of players from the grass roots, developing as a
force to be reckoned with and becoming the team to beat within there BUCS league and championships. Most recently the team are extremely proud to have set up their first ever ladies squad, many of whom have learnt the sport over a short period since September. It is a truly commendable achievement how far this team unit has come in such a small time.
The team is structured around a community of friends, reflective of the history and culture behind this traditional Irish village sport. Mattie is a captain who wears his heart on his sleeve and speaks about his nations’ game with extreme pride and respect. “In Ireland everyone get’s together
