achievement of being the first ever men’s hockey team to be promoted to BUCS premiership. It’s a tight group of players who have been through two years of coming together, and are now excited to get to play for what they have worked so hard for. Last year the momentum of consecutively winning sustained the expectations that eventually made it a habit. The ball has continued to roll this year with the addition to the squad of some excellent fresher’s and quality Welsh internationals. Competition within the squad has increased the intensity and work ethic of players, and everyone is


performing at a higher level.


Danny Newcombe knows that nothing will be easy and has set the standard to at least stay up this season, as the team has to learn quickly to adapt to the demanding tempo of this league. “We are good enough to play at this level after two very good performances. However, we have learnt that the margins are so much tighter at this level and that you must take your chances when you earn them as the opposition will always take there’s”.
