New Södra sawmill offers pulp benefits

S

ödra’s new Värö sawmill, inaugurated by Swedish Minister for Trade Ewa

Björling, owes much of its significance to its location adjacent to Södra’s Värö pulp mill. Through its subsidiary Södra Timber, the

Södra Forestry Group has invested €150 million in the new sawmill in Värö. The combination with the pulp mill offers unique coordination opportunities between Södra Cell and Södra Timber.

cost advantages in terms of energy, wood chip transport and overheads. The pulp mill will provide energy for

production from the sawmill. Another benefit is the proximity to

timber at full capacity, thus requiring a large harvesting area. Due to the long distances

involved, rail transportation of logs will be used where possible. The new sawmill is one of the

LMI turns up intensity on Gocator distribution L

MI Technologies, a global industry leader in 3D laser measurement and control sensor technology, has added Cadence

Automation, Advanced Control Solutions (ACS), and Parameter as certified Gocator distributors. Companies in Quebec, the southern United States, and Scandinavia looking to improve their factory automation processes will now have access to LMI Technologies’ Gocator family of robust, easy-to-use, 3D laser measurement sensors.

Gocator laser line smart sensors are all-in- one solutions that make 3D measurement and control for factory automation accessible to all levels of expertise. Through Gocator’s built-in web tools, users can easily perform inline part inspection for 100% quality control, communicate results (either directly or to a PLC), as well as make sorting and tracking decisions. Gocators fit a large range of applications as fully functional stand-alone sensors, or when combined to create powerful multi-Gocator systems. “Working with Cadence, ACS, and Parameter

is exciting for us,” LMI’s Director of Sales, Kevin Brown, said. “These are top tier companies with excellent reputations for providing their customers with market leading technology and this distribution network expansion represents significant revenue potential for all of our companies.” Marc-Andre Laurin, Sales Manager at Cadence: “There is a growing shift towards 3D measurement in Quebec. We are seeing an increasing demand for flexible 3D measurement sensors that are easy to use. It is a pleasure to be working with LMI and Gocator fits very well within our product mix and with the needs of our marketplace.” ACS owner, David Pilliod: “With

manufacturing helping to drive the economic growth of the southern US, we are excited to be working with LMI to bring Gocator to a market looking for high-speed, accurate, and flexible 3D measurement sensors. This is an excellent opportunity for both of our companies and we expect market response to Gocator to be very positive.

Michael Cohn, CEO Parameter: “Parameter has worked hard to establish its reputation for delivering the most advanced technology and the best solutions and Gocator sensors are a natural fit with product mix and our customers’ needs. We are excited to be working with LMI Technologies as the first distributor of Gocator 3D smart sensors in Scandinavia and Poland.” As a strong product entry into the

burgeoning Quebec, southern United States and Scandinavian markets, these newly signed agreements hold substantial market potential for Gocator 3D smart sensors. With the manufacturing sectors pushing economic growth in all three regions, LMI and its new distributors are expecting a large volume of initial interest in Gocator. LMI Technologies has provided comprehensive training and sales support and enquires can now be handled directly through Cadence Automation, ACS, and Parameter by visiting their corporate websites.
