PRIME MOVERS AND MULCHERS

We saw a need for contractors working on soft, wet ground needing powerful mulching at lower ground pressure. The Bron 275 mulcher was designed for this purpose – Robert Hall, RFW Bron

new solutions and techniques and more resistant material, Seppi M, an Italian company based in the South Tyrolean Alps, is one of the longest serving producers of forestry mulchers. This year, the company is celebrating 40

years since the development of its first flail mulcher built for pruning in agriculture. From this base, Seppi M developed the first forestry rotor for mulchers in 1980 to shred thicker wood, especially the underwood in forestry. Since then a wide range of mulching equipment has been developed – anything from small to large forestry mulchers, hydraulic drive mulchers, excavator mulchers, stump grinders, stone crushers and multi-purpose soil tillers. The flagship of the Seppi range, the Midiforst

dt, is loved by professionals around the globe and is for universal use, in forestry and elsewhere. It mulches wood up to 250 mm (10 inch); requires 55-110 hp at the tractor output shaft; and is available in widths of 2 m, 2.25 m and 2.5 m. The Midiforst dt hyd is the hydraulic version and fits most types of hydraulic prime movers. Specific attachment interfaces are

Some 180-250 hp is required at the output shaft and available widths are 2 m, 2.25 m, and 2.5 m. The hydraulic version has an oil flow of 300-500 litres/minute; maximum pressure of 350 bar; and 230-440 hp of power. The Seppi Kastor hyd excavator-mounted stump grinder is designed for excavators of 10- 25 t and grinds stumps as deep as 500 mm (20 inch) and any diameter. An optional interface for spider excavators works as a blade to paddle earth into the ground hole. Wood chips from the stumps mixed into the ground will quickly decompose and be ready for new planting. The mechanical version of the Kastor stump grinder requires 80-130 hp at the tractor
